Howard Gardner gave this theory in 1983. He said that intelligence is not one thing. It has many forms. Every child learns in a different way.
So teachers must use many methods.

Gardner explained eight types of intelligence.


1. Linguistic Intelligence

It is the skill of using language.
People read well.
They write well.
They speak well.
Examples: Shakespeare, Obama.


2. Logical–Mathematical Intelligence

It is the skill of logic.
People solve problems.
They use numbers.
They find patterns.
Examples: Newton, Ramanujan.


3. Spatial Intelligence

It is the skill of seeing pictures in the mind.
People draw well.
They design things.
They understand maps.
Examples: Picasso, Zaha Hadid.


4. Musical Intelligence

It is the skill of music.
People feel rhythm.
They sing songs.
They create tunes.
Examples: Beethoven, A.R. Rahman.


5. Bodily–Kinaesthetic Intelligence

It is the skill of using the body.
People move well.
They act well.
They perform tasks with control.
Examples: M.S. Dhoni, Phelps.


6. Interpersonal Intelligence

It is the skill of understanding people.
People talk well.
They cooperate well.
They show empathy.
Examples: Gandhi, Mother Teresa.


7. Intrapersonal Intelligence

It is the skill of understanding the self.
People know their feelings.
They think deeply.
They plan their goals.
Examples: Buddha, Vivekananda.


8. Naturalistic Intelligence

It is the skill of understanding nature.
People observe plants.
They observe animals.
They love the environment.
Examples: Darwin, Salim Ali.
