Meaning of Development

Development is a continuous and dynamic process that involves both qualitative and quantitative changes in an individual. It reflects the overall transformation of personality and abilities, occurring from conception (womb) to maturity (till adulthood).

Growth vs Development

Growth means physical change like height and weight.
Development includes thinking, emotions, social skills, and values.
Growth stops after maturity. Development goes on through life.

Physical — height, weight, motor skills
Cognitive — thinking, memory, problem-solving
Social — making friends, sharing, teamwork
Emotional — expressing feelings, managing emotions
